Gus:
Hi! This is Gus. Generally know as "the bestest doggie in the
world" but as of late as "diabetic doggie". Gus was
recently diagnosed with diabetes. At about the same time this wonderful
eight year old chow/shepherd mix started getting very unhappy when
he was left at the house - inside or out. He dug under the fence and
out a hole we couldn't imagine him fitting through. He broke shingles
off the garage when he was trying to climb over the fence. Yes, all
eighty pounds of him. (We wish we could have seen it happen, instead
of just seeing the after effects.) And he broke through the chain
link with his teeth. Ouch!
Prior
to this damage, he had done damage inside the house. Chewing through
door jams, etc. But his Dad and I couldn't understand why all of a
sudden he started having anxiety attacks when he had been so good
for so long. The worst he had done in the recent past was to carry
shampoo bottles, and shower brushes out of the bathtub and into our
bedrooms when we left the house. So after a fairly large dollar amount
of damage his Dad started getting really angry. I, being the weird
one, decided to find an animal communicator. It was the best thing
that could happen. After two pre-hurricane cancellations, and a very
unhappy Gus episode, Chris made the trip to our house to meet Gus.
He liked her from the start. And when she talked to him, he would
lie on his back and did the happy Gus roll.
Chris
found out that Gus was acting out because he was afraid he was going
to die alone. We talked with our neighbor who will and does check
on Gus during the day. We also started telling him where we were going
when we left the house and when we would return. And Chris told us
that the only time Gus would hesitate to go outside when we left for
work in the morning would be if it was going to storm. Gus does NOT
like barometric pressure changes. Since then we have only had trouble
once and that was our fault. We left the house in a rush, and Gus
didn't understand. And every morning when I get ready to leave for
work, Gus walks right outside and lies on the porch. It's amazing.
And
Chris also gave us the name of a very good vet who is working with
us to keep Gus as well as we can for as long as we can. Gus and his
Dad were a team before I came on the scene. It was heart wrenching
to see his Dad upset and to see Gus upset without knowing how to find
out why. Chris helped with that. Gus seems so much happier it is amazing.
I tell everyone I know what happened. Even his Dad the skeptic had
a surprise. While Chris and Gus were talking, Gus said his Dad looked
better without the beard. Chris hadn't even met Gus' Dad. She certainly
didn't know the beard was only about 18 months old. His Dad didn't
cut off the beard, but he did trim it up a bit. I have Gus to thank
for that. I can't thank Chris enough for getting back the "bestest
doggie in the whole world."
Sincerely,
Gus' mom, Heidi Grass
